Sat, Sept 7 - 4.1 miles

Firefighter 5k in Sweetwater. Herbert wanted to break an 8 minute pace, so I obliged and paced him for the first 1.5-1.8 miles. I then started moving up on a guy wearing a swimming suit (beach style) that had passed me previously. I pulled away from Herbert to pass swimming suit guy. That push got me closer to an older guy, so I kept the increased pace up. About a half mile or so from the finish was a fairly steep grade, about 2/10ths. I picked up the pace on the hill and passed older guy. I then found myself within reach, if I picked up the pace again, of another guy. So about 2/10ths from the finish I put in an all out sprint and had to keep it up 'til almost the finish as the guy tried to stay with me. He didn't, but tried. Finished in 22:49. It gives me an idea of where I am right now, but nothing concrete. I was about 7:30 pace through 2 miles and running very comfortably with Herbert and passing swimming suit. I was mildly uncomfortable catching and passing older guy (60). And only hurting the last 2/10ths. Of course, I think my problem right now is mentally running uncomfortably for anything longer than a few minutes. Somewhat pleased with the time and effort.
