Wed, Oct 23 - 3.0 miles

Hit the YMCA treadmill for the first time in months. Three miles with some 1/8 mile repeats at 7:30 pace. Some core work as well.

Tues, Oct. 22 - 4.6 miles

I ran at Regional. Did 1 lap and cut it short b/c Herbert was meeting me. We then ran another lap at a 9:19 pace. Pretty good, Herb's best lap pace. Achilles didn't hurt at all during the run. I'm on fall break this week so looking to hit my goal of 4 runs and 18 miles. Still wanting to take it slow. Too many body parts hurting.

Sun, Oct 20 - 6.2 miles

The good news: ran my scheduled long run today of 6.2 at regional and ran 14 miles in 3 runs this week.

The bad news: didn't run my scheduled 3 mile run yesterday, so I didn't get in the 17 that I wanted. Even worse, I had an absolute horrible day eating. I started with a poptart for breakfast, leftover pizza and breadsticks for lunch, chili and chips and cheese during the ballgame, a mcdonalds double cheeseburger and fries for dinner and a funnel cake at Lake Winnepesaukah. I'm not real sure I could have eaten worse had I tried.

Not surprisingly, I felt terrible all day. A victory because I at least ran.

Fri, Oct 18 - 3.0 miles

Ran 1 lap on Regional. I went out with the goal of beating my 1 lap PR of 9:05 set last week. Really wanted to break the 9 minute barrier. Pushed hard and finished the 2.4 mile loop in 21:21, an 8:53 pace. Earlier in the day I had written down that I wanted to run a 8:52 pace the 2nd week of November. Guess I'm a bit faster than I thought. I have no idea exactly where I am though as I have done virtually nothing on the road but slow mileage.

Wed, Oct 16 - 4.8 miles

Regional Park again today. Easy effort for a 9:50 pace. 2nd loop about 10 seconds/mile faster than the 1st.

Sunday, 10/13 - 4.8 miles

Haven't been keeping up with the blog lately. Took about a week and a half off to rest a nagging achilles pain. Luckily, it doesn't appear that I lost any fitness as my runs, such as they have been, have been surprisingly quick. I have even lowered my benchmark 1 loop (2.4 miles) on the Regional Park trail to a PR 9:05 pace and my 2 loop to a PR 9:28 pace. Today was 2 loops at a 9:49 pace with the 2nd loop faster than the first. It was a very slow effort aside from a few minute or so stretches. An effort like today 2 months ago would have been about a 10:15-20 pace. I also hit my goal this week of 14 miles in 4 runs. Not much, I know, but I want to take it slow and see how the achilles holds up. Still having some pain, but seems to be better.
